New Cowl on the Block

Hi there dear Friends...

I know I don't need another cowl and I know I have a blanket to finish ... but what can a girl do when she sees such gorgeous yarn and such beautiful patterns all over and around her ???

Well, a girl got to get the yarn and start a new cowl...

And that is exactly what I am doing this weekend. I took a couple of days to spend with my family for Spring break (yes I said a magical word...Spring is coming to Oregon).

I went to the RoseCity Yarn Crawl last month and this was one of the free patterns they were giving at one of my favorite yarn stores, Happy Knits in Portland, OR. I think that you can find the pattern on Ravelry.

It's a fun and easy cowl and I'm enjoying the simple and calming feeling of just knitting rows and rows of garter stitch...just getting ready for the next step now.

And, of course, if I'm going to have a few days off I will have a couple extra minutes and it will be filled with some knitting and crocheting ... my kind of fun.

I met with "the girls", Teresa, Gracie and Betsy, last week for a lunch and of course we had gifts for each other and a wonderful time together (which really is the biggest gift we really have). I thought I got a picture of all of us, but i didn't get one ... I did get a picture of the goodies we exchanged and the wonderful hats and sweater Betsy made for me to send to my mom. My mom makes a starter welcome box for underprivileged pregnant ladies in Brazil. I have been making hats to send to her and she adds them to the boxes... well, now that I told my friends Betsy, my builder Kristy (yes, what are the chances you are going to build a house and your builder also looooves to knit ? ) and a couple of my friends MaryAnn and Rosario have also helped me with a few more hats this time.

My mom is going to be so excited when she gets them. I will have more details about this project on a later post. Just wanted to say a BIG THANK YOU to Teresa, Betsy and Gracie for the gifts and for their friendship and a big THANK YOU to Betsy, Kristy, MaryAnn and Rosario for the hats. You are making a difference in a child's life and your hats will keep their heads and hearts warm :)

Hope you all are having a great week and have a great beginning of Spring.

Thanks for stopping by ...I love to hear from all of you. You are such a great support and you make my day :)

A blanket still in Progress

I have to say I'm so very happy the sun has shine here in our corner of the world for a couple of days.
While it was not enough (I have to confess there is never enough sun for me ... I just love the sun) it was just a great little charge of energy to motivate me to work harder on the birthday blanket.

I have been so very busy I haven't even had the time, some days, to crochet or knit.

Building a house, working full time and of course finding time to spend with my family has made it challenging for me with only 24 hours in one day. Wouldn't be great to have a few extra hours (or maybe the need need to sleep less) so we could accomplish all those little projects we want to do ???
Don't get me wrong I'm very grateful for all that I have and all the time I spend with everyone in my life and I know someday I will have a lot more time and will catch up with all these projects I have to put aside now.
I have been working fast and furious on the Birthday Blanket and I have almost 4 rows completed now. I am very happy with the result, even thought I'm just about half way now. I'm even happier because I have been able to challenge myself to try the random style and not really plan the colors in a certain patten and I think I'm succeeding at it. You have no idea how hard it's for me ...I want to have a pattern so very hard... but I'm going to stick to my plan and see where it will take me ... so far I am very happy with my decision. :)
Take a look and see what you think ...

Right now I am just happy I have gotten a little bit of time today to stop by to "see" all of you and to crochet for a little bit ... I have to confess that for now until I finish this birthday blanket Sweater Sunday will temporarily (and maybe forever ??? ) be changed to Blanket Sunday... :)

Thanks for stopping by and for all your kind, warm comments.

Hope you are enjoying your Sunday and that you have a wonderful week.

Making Washcloths

Hi there Dear Friends ...

It has been hard for me to find time to get here to visit with you, even though I think I have already said it is one of my favorite times of the day...

I have again been very busy at work. Time is just flying by and when I see it is 10:00 in the evening. I haven't even had very much time to knit or crochet... But when I do I have been crazily making washcloths...

Washcloths for a bridal shower... (look at the pictures and see how cute they ended up being), washcloths for my kitchen... washcloths for my powder room... washcloths for my bathroom...

How fun... they are quick, rewarding and when I want to give them as a gift (as with the ones I just made for the shower, I just add a couple little dish scrubbies and put a cute soap with it and it makes a perfect little addition to a gift). I made them with 100% cotton and size 5.00 mm H crochet hook.

Well I have to run again... gotta cook dinner and keep going with laundry otherwise there wont be any clean clothes for next work week ... ha ha :)

Fun to be here and touch basis with you. I hope you have a fantastic week and THANK YOU for stopping by to "see" me ... I love your comments :)
